Hawker Food

As a cabby for the last 5 years, I've roamed many streets, back alleys, heartland lanes and country roads of Singapore. I ferried customers to countless hawker centers, shop houses, coffee shops, restaurants, shopping malls and hotels for their meals. Inevitably, I had to stop for my meal too at the places where I dropped off my passengers. However, sometime I would stop at a place where parking is convenient and if possible, my taxi is visible from where I'm seated so that I can save on my parking coupon. But I'm not stingy on parking coupon as a fine is more hurtful. More often than not and as a adventurous foodie, I would frequently take the trouble to drive to my favorite hawker stall to have my "must-eat" dishes.

I've a list of my favorite stalls accumulated through the years of my driving experience. It covers not only the best hawker foods that had been publicized by the various media but also those that have escaped their radar.
Singapore is a cosmopolitan city where different cultures of the world merges to create a great varieties of cuisines. It's a food paradise. We have Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Chinese, Indian, Western cuisine and more. You name it, we have it here. Surprisingly, many of these cuisines are available in our humble hawker centers and coffee shops. Theses are the places I frequent, not classy big restaurants.
Now, as I'm alone when I've my meals, the food that I eat is usually one or two dishes and certainly not a ten course dinner. So, I'm focused on a single dish and the best stall that sells them at a particular area. More importantly, it's good and cheap and sometime still available AFTER midnight.

Soon, I'll share with you my visits to some of my favorite hawker stalls that sells the best local foods such as laksa, char kway teow, mee siam etc... I'm certainly not a food critic but I'll  provide a frank review, with mobile photo or video of  these "die-die-must-try" hawker food in the Lion City of Singapore and hope that one day you could try my recommendation as well. Of course, you might agree or disagree with my review. It doesn't matter to me. But I can assure you that as a lover of good food, my recommendation should not be too far off the passing mark. Trust me!.
